When there's a chill in the air, count on the Dimplex umbrella heater to keep the good times going. This heater attaches to almost any size patio umbrella without removing the umbrella from its base. Each of the three elements function independently to provide directional heat. This heater is great! : Dimplex PUH1500 Electric Radiant Parasol Patio Heater
We looked at stand up propane heaters, wall mounted galvanic heaters and in the end, plan we'd give this a try.
We've had it about 2 months and have used it at least 4 times while evening meal with friends on our patio. It's honestly amazing. While it won't heat a room or a large area, it's exquisite for heating 6 citizen sitting at our outdoor dining table.
Pros:
1. It has 2 switches so 1, 2 or all 3 of the heating elements can be on. If someone is hot, we just switch off the heating element closest to them (Note: You cannot switch off all 3 individually. One switch controls 2 elements the other 1 element.)
2. It's covenant and easy to store - stays on the pole right under the umbrella.
3. Provides great heat for roughly 6 citizen at our rectangular table.
Cons:
1. Requires an umbrella or umbrella pole (not a huge issue, but we didn't have one - incidentally, the umbrella being raised also helps hold the heat in).
2. You have to move it up and down the pole manually when you close/open the umbrella.
Obviously the cons are not that big of a deal to me as I gave it 5 stars. I would recommend this to friends/family and would buy another if we put a second table outside.
